Think...and change your world view...

This is just going to be a snip-it. I think that's a English word...I don't know, I'm not English.

It's on my heart I need to pose and address to you guys what you think of healings, raising the dead, and miracles in general...the mere mentioning of miracles in our generation seems to only raise a lot of skeptics instead of believers.

And it fathoms me because how does a Jesus follower actually deny raising people from the dead when that is what our whole faith is about? Why do we have this posture that God is not living among us now and we can't do miracles like Jesus or the Apostles?

I mean God did miracles through Moses and this was before Jesus right? Or do I have my history wrong?

How can we believe that miracles do not happen and yet still claim "God is God. He is the ultimate power, he is the greatest love" ?

How can we say that God is not here on earth with us and yet claim to have the Holy Spirit in us? Is there not a trinity? Did Jesus not give us power and authority through him over the earth? Did he not send the Holy Spirit?

I can keep going but I would love to hear feedback. I don't want plain agreement, but positive criticism and other views. Thanks guys.

  1. I think you know where I stand...
    Fact: Moses performed miracles
    Fact: Jesus performed miracles
    Fact: Peter performed miracles
    Fact: Paul performed miracles

    Moses-old covenant
    Jesus- turning point of covenant
    Peter- Original disciple of Jesus
Paul- NEW COVENANT! NOT ONE OF THE 12 DISCIPLES...
    US- *(see discription of Paul)

  3. You know it's funny, I was reading through Mathew several weeks ago and came to the part where Jesus is walking on water up to the boat with all of his apostles. I can't remember which one, I think it's either Paul or Peter can't believe it so Jesus has him walk out to him on the water. The same exact question popped into my head, why don't we see these kinds of miracles today? Why aren't people walking on water. I asked this question to a wise man in our church and he said that although we don't often see it, these sorts of miracles are happening all over the world. It's in places like Africa or third-world villages that barely place on the map most times but it is happening. The part that still saddens me is that we don't see it here, around us in our lives, that we don't have the acting faith to believe ourselves that through God anything that we wish to accomplish is possible.

This is really long, sorry :) You hit a good subject though so I'm gonna keep going.

I was praying on St. Patties day for change in Riley's (the irish bar that I work at). First I began to pray that the workers would find change and hope in their lives...but I knew that on that particular day they weren't aloud to drink, and although my care for them wasn't any less, I decided the concentration of my prayer should be on the customers. So I began small, praying that no one would get too drunk. Then I thought well I'll pray no one will get hurt the entire day...as I was doing this I thought shoot, why not pray that no one in chico will get hurt the entire day...then it got bigger, why not pray for a radical change in the chaotic bar scene of that one day for the entire town. Anyhow, my point is it got to the point where I could tell that even I didn't believe what I was praying. I knew God could do it and would do it...but I also knew deep down that I didn't believe he would do it...not that radicle of a change. Anyhow, the point is I prayed everything anyhow and actually it was an incredibly slow day at Riley's and no one there did get hurt. I don't know about the whole town, but it was a nice feeling to know that even though my faith was small, God appreciated and loved any faith at all.

Sorry again that this is so long :)
